Why aren't my GIFs showing up in my HTML reports?
Marketwave Hit List uses a third-party library for converting
the graphs output for reports from .bmp files to .gif format.
The name of the .dll that contains the ability to do the conversions
is called vic32.dll. We use a fairly old version due to the
fact that some functionality was taken out of the newer libraries
(due to a licensing issue with CompuServe).
Our software doesn't work with new versions of the library,
so if someone installed another piece of software that uses
this library, the .bmp files likely won't be converted to
.gif format. This means HTML reports won't have graphs (tables
are unaffected). Word doc reports will be unaffected (because
they are embedded in the Rich Text as .bmp format). The only
solution to this problem at this point is to use the old .dll,
but that may cause problems with other software installed
upon the user's system.
To restore graphs capability to Hit List HTML reports:
1) Do a windows Find on vic32.dll and note its location.
2) backup the current one on your computer to another location
(for replacement in the future if necessary).
3) re-run Hit List Setup, which will replace the vic32.dll
in its appropriate location.
4) Run a Hit List HTML report with at least one graph in
it, to verify that it works.
5) If applicable, watch for another program to have problems
regarding this dll (may not happen) and let support@issel.co.uk
know about it for our own tracking.
