1. Start by locating Hit List Commerce Pro's application file and double-click it.<
2. Setup information, read and click on "Finish" button.
3. Installation begins by unzipping and opening the application file.
4. Read the License Agreement. If you want to continue click on "I Agree".
5. Hit List default location. If you don't want to change it Click on "Next".
6. Accept default settings. You can always change them later from the main Hit List Menu. Note that you can select either English, French or German as the default language for your reports. The settings "Install Remote Reports" and "Optimize Web Server" are only available if Hit List is installed on a machine which has a web server on it, for example Microsoft Internet Information Server 4 (IIS 4).
7. If you select Hit List to run as a Service, you can decide how to start it; either automatically when the system reboots or manually. To be able to log on to Hit List remotely you must select the 'Log on as specific account' option and provide a username and password.
8. It is a good idea to select the "Small Web Site" option. You can setup Hit List storage rules manually after installation to give you better control of system.
9. If you want to install Hit List's remote reporting functionality click on
"Install" otherwise click on "Finish".
10. Reports generated by the Remote Reporting facility will store in this folder. Make sure the MWGRAPHS folder exists, if not then you must create it at the location displayed in the message box. Don't forgot to allow users of the reports access to this folder. Click OK. Next pop up message will be displayed.
11. This pop up describes where the log-in form to use Remote Reporting can be found. The actual reporting form is located as indicated.
12. You can now either run Hit List or read information about Hit List's Advertising Manager and Virtual Server Manager capacities. If you don't want to read about them, go to screen 15.
13. Clicking Advertising Manager brings up Help Screen as a pop up. Close or minimise it when you have read it.
14. Clicking Virtual Servers brings up Help Screen as a pop up. Close or minimise it when you have read it.
15. Here you see your ID. We need this to provide your license key. This ID can also be found under the Help Menu.
16. Set up is now almost completed. Read Tips or close it for now. You will see some pop ups boxes, read them. When registeration form pops up, please fill it and submit it.
17. This pop up describes the key features of Hit List. Click OK to continue.
18. This pop up introduces you the online help. Click yes to go to next screen or no to screen 20.
19. This is what you see if you click "yes". We recommend you to read this.
20. Here you see the main Hit List Menu, Often called , the Global Menu, as settings here applies to all reports in Hit List. Click Options.
21. These are the default
settings. They can overridden at report or element level. Default domain: The domain/web site whose traffic you are analysing.
22. If you want to tell Hit List to deliver reports by e-mail, insert the name
of email server and the mail account to use here. For SMTP mail servers you
normally do not have to enter any values into the "Password" and "Email
domain" fields. Note: You can set up individual reports to be sent to individual users later on.
23. This is the Log File
Global setting. Browse to the location of your log files or insert the ftp address.
For more detailed information click "Help" button. Note: If you are using Lotus Domino 4.5 then click "Help" where the set up is described.
24. This is the Help menu section for the log files screen which gives you more detailed information about your log files. We are using IIS4.0 Web servers in this example, so yours might be different.
25. To use ftp: you need to put the correct path to your log-in file including your lag-in name and password.
25A. Next navigate to the IIS Management Console, select "Default Web Site" and go to Properties. Select "Web site" under Enable Logging: Select extend log fiel Format and click on borswe.
25B. Under Extended Properties select options that you want from the list. Press OK, and Apply in Default Website.
26. Next browse to your Database. You can have multiple databases. (Default location shown). Make sure to have at least 1GB for free space the drive where the database is located. C:\Temp\Test.mwd is another example.
27. Next select Updates. When you update your database, you can update it with either Summary or Detail
data or both. Normally we recommend both type of data is being stored but this
also depends on how much traffic you have to your web site. If you have more
than 100 MB of log files per day, we recommend that only summary data is stored. Note: Excluding data here will prevent it being loaded into the database so you will not be able to report on it.
28. Selecting Hit List to Run as an NT Service. We set this up earlier.
29. No Change here. This tab is only for advanced setting in the case of password protected sites.
30. No Change here. This is for optimising database storage.
31. Clicking Options in the above screen will take you to this screen (No changes).
32. Now we are ready to run your first report. Highlight the Executive Summary Report and click on "Design".
33. This is where you can redesign the Executive Summary Report which is one of the numerous reports delivered with Hit List. Every report is made up of a series of elements, all of which can be customised. The Toolbox menu contains more than 350 standard elements which you can drag and drop into your report. You can also create your own elements either from scratch or by editing existing elements.
34. This is where the type of output for the report is defined. You can select who receives the report by e-mail here. Reports can be created as HTML, Word, E-mail and as a CSV file at the same time if desired.
35. This tab allows you to define the options for this report.
36. Now you are back to the Global Menu. Click on update and update your database. Click OK to start updating.
37. Time of updating varies depending on the size of your log files and computer.
38. When database has been updated you will see this. Click OK to close it.
39. Now is the time to run the first report. To run a report either double click it or select a report and click Run.
40. Assuming you have selected HTML as output this is what will appear in your browser.
41. The left hand frame allows you to navigate rapidly around the report.
42. Hit List includes definitions at the end of the reports.
This report was located on the Hit List Desktop. Create a folder and copy reports to that folder and modify them. |
