WEB VISITOR LOCATION MYSTERY
TACKLED BY GEOLOCATION MODULE FOR PILOT HITLIST
A Geolocation module has been developed
specifically for use with the Pilot HitList family of web
analytics software.
This allows people to analyse more accurately the country
visitors reside in. Currently most analytics systems classify
all .com visitors as being from the United States, even though
a high proportion are not.
Suitable for companies wanting to analyse website visitor
behaviour and achieving anywhere between the low thousands
and 10 million page views per day, Pilot HitList is relevant
to any business that is serious about the web as part of
its customer service and communications mix.
“Ten years after the creation of the World Wide Web,
we still have real difficulty in identifying accurately where
a web
visitor resides in the world,” said Colin Cooper, ISSEL
European Commercial Director on behalf of Pilot Software. “This
limits the ability of companies to understand who visits
their site. The Geolocation tool works around the limitations
of the web to allow people to analyse their traffic data
using geographic criteria.”
“The original idea of having country-specific suffixes
at the end of web addresses has been overtaken by reality
-
most businesses and individual users crave a .com address.
That means an analytics
system has to make complicated connections to work out where
people are really
from,” Cooper added.
Developed by ISSEL for its European customers, the module
extends the Pilot HitList database with additional country
data. As visitors are identified coming to your
site, their IP is matched to a compressed location database. The data is then
updated with the enhanced country information. Pilot HitList’s full range
of analytical capabilities can then be deployed to interrogate the data from
whichever angle is required to support the business need.
The module is available exclusively in Europe through ISSEL
and is priced at £340
for the new Pilot HitList Lite product and £340 plus 5 per cent of
the traffic volume license for the full Pilot HitList product. Later upgrades
will
extend analysis to include regions, states, cities, ISPs and IP owners.
Pilot HitList allows companies to capture comprehensive,
accurate online data that can then be analysed either in
isolation or in conjunction with
CRM and
sales systems. Web analytics is now the vital tool to enable businesses
to understand how customers use websites and how online and
offline behaviour
correlate. It
is also used increasingly to measure and prove return on investment in
online initiatives.
Pilot HitList is in use in more than 100 enterprise customers
in the UK and worldwide. UK Customers include John Lewis
Direct, Informa Group, Cheapflights,
Topjobs.com,
