For a description of the functionality of ISSEL GeoCountry 1.0.1, see the ISSEL GeoCountry User Guide.
This document describes the following:
New in 1.0.1
These are the news in this release:
For previous changes and fixes please see the Revision History.
System Requirements
Windows NT 4, Service Pack 6a, Windows 2000 SP3 (Workstation or Server)
Pentium compatible, 64 MB RAM, 2 GB HD.
At present the above are the only supported OSes. No problems are forseen with operations on Windows XP though this is not tested.
ISSEL GeoCountry has very limited system requirements. When running it will use less then 20 MB of RAM, irrespective of the size of the database it is connected to. GeoCountry itself uses about 10 MB of disk space however the database it processes can use any amount of disk space so the disk drives should be dimensioned accordingly.
Installation Procedure
The installer does not perform any backups. If you are performing an upgrade of your GeoCountry software and want to keep your settings make sure you backup the file hlgeo_settings.xml in the GeoCountry program files directory.
If you are already using ISSEL GeoCountry you should un-install it before installing the upgraded version according to the descriptions below.
Installation procedure is as follows:
The installation is now complete and the programme can now be started from the Start menu under Programs/Issel. When you start up a new release of Issel GeoCountry for the first time make sure you examine any new features and select the settings you prefer. Typically any new features will be disabled by default so they should not affect processing unless you want them to.
Uninstall Procedure
To remove ISSEL GeoCountry from your machine follow these steps:
There are no Registry keys to remove.
Known Issues
We have noticed that GeoCountry can occasionally crash when it performs a large amount of lookups against a Hit List database which has stored site-names rather then IP-addresses in the IP-address field in the Hit List database. This can happen when log files containing Visitor IP-addresses which are already resolved by the web server are loaded into a Hit List database. The workaround is to avoid loading such logs. However, if there is a crash you should still be able to re-start the program and continue the lookups from where it ended. Please note that normally log files do not contain resolved IP-addresses since that puts an extra load on the web server which writes the log files.
Licensing
To purchase ISSEL GeoCountry contact ISSEL at sales@issel.co.uk sending the GeoCountry ID which can be found in "Register..." under the Help Menu. On receipt of your payment you will be sent a License Key. This key can be entered into Issel GeoCountry by clicking the Enter button directly below where the ID is found. On entering a correct license key a confirmation message will appear and the text at the top of the screen will now show that it is a licensed version.
