Updated 2003-11-21
This document describes installation notes, known issues, and miscellaneous engineering notes for ISSEL GeoDetail 1.1.0.
For a description of the functionality of ISSEL GeoDetail 1.1.0, see the ISSEL GeoDetail User Guide.
This document describes the following:
New in 1.1.0
These are the news in this release:
For previous changes and fixes please see the Revision History.
System Requirements
Windows NT 4, Service Pack 6a, Windows 2000 SP3 (Workstation or Server)
Microsoft MDAC 2.7 (requires that MDAC 2.5 is installed first, which is included in Win2000 SP3 but not in WinNT SP6)
Pentium compatible, 64 MB RAM, 2 GB HD.
At present the above are the only supported OSes. No problems are forseen with operations on Windows XP though this is not tested.
ISSEL GeoDetail has very limited system requirements. When running it will use less then 60 MB of RAM, irrespective of the size of the database it is connected to. GeoDetail itself uses about 100 MB of disk space however the database it processes can use any amount of disk space so the disk drives should be dimensioned accordingly.
Installation Procedure
If you are already using ISSEL GeoDetail you should un-install it before installing the upgraded version according to the descriptions below and then install the new version. Typically step 1 - 3 of the installation procedure described below can be skipped for an upgrade. After installation all your previous settings should be intact.
Installation procedure is as follows:
The installation is now complete and the programme can now be started from the Start menu under Programs/Issel. When you start up a new release of Issel GeoDetail for the first time make sure you examine any new features and select the settings you prefer. Typically any new features will be disabled by default so they should not affect processing unless you want them to.
Note: If you have been using Issel GeoCountry before, you can install GeoDetail and continue to use it with the databases which GeoCountry has already been used upon. GeoDetail will not add any information to IP-addresses which has already been processed by GeoCountry but will add its extra fields to any new (un-processed) IP-addresses it finds. If you want all your IP-addresses to have the extra data provided by GeoDetail you first have to Drop the Geo data (using "Drop Geo" in the Geo menu).
Uninstall Procedure
To remove ISSEL GeoDetail from your machine follow these steps:
