There are a number of modules available for Pilot HitList which makes the product substantially more powerful and more flexible.

Pilot HitList Network Data Collector

The Pilot HitList Network Data Collector uses a technology called package sniffing to capture web server traffic data between your web servers and the browsers using your web site. Packet sniffing eliminates the need to collect and manage multiple distributed server log files by automatically collecting traffic information in real time directly from the TCP/IP network packets. The resulting database is always up to date and available for reporting. Packet sniffing allows data to be collected that is not normally found in web server log files, such as the query parameters contained in a server "POST" command and when a user presses the stop button in the browser. This allows for more complete traffic analysis.

Note: Not available for Pilot HitList Lite.

Pilot HitList Web Server Plugin

The Pilot HitList Web Server Plugin works much like a Network Data Collector, but is used in environments where the Network Data Collector isn't suitable to use, for example for encrypted data. Windows and Solaris server plug-ins are available for automatically collecting web traffic data collection directly from the server after decryption.

Note: Not available for Pilot HitList Lite.

ISSEL Log Companion

This is a preprocessing tool that allows you to clean up and manipulate your web server logs. It has a number of powerful features which simplifies the handling of large web sites. ISSEL Log Companion can among other things:

• Automatically archive and zip log files
• Merge log files from load balanced servers
• Remove log files entries from unwanted robots and internal accesses
• Remove GIF, JPG and other log files entries which have no value. This can decrease the log file loading times by an order of magnitude
• Significantly simplify ABCE Compliance

There are two versions of the Issel Log Companion, Pro and Enterprise. They both provide the same features but Enterprise makes it a lot easier to handle multiple web sites. Where the Pro version is made to handle one web site at a time (it can handle several sites, just one at a time) the Enterprise version organises all web sites in a single, easy to use view, allowing the processing of all web sites log files at the same time.

ISSEL GeoDetail and ISSEL GeoCountry

ISSEL GeoDetail and GeoCountry adds accurate and detailed Geo Location information to Pilot HitList databases. Normally Pilot HitList only provides country information which is based on the site-names of the visiting computers, where a fixed mapping of the top site name domain determines country. That means that all .uk domains are mapped to the UK but also that all .com domains are mapped to the US. Since many companies in the UK and Europe often select to use .com domain names this kind of mapping may skew the picture.

Issel GeoDetail and GeoCountry instead takes the visitor IP-addresses already stored in the Pilot HitList database and looks them up in a built-in database extracted from the publicly available RIPE Whois system. Since this system stores actual registration information about the IP-addresses is it inherently more accurate then a mapping against top domain names.

On top of this ISSEL GeoDetail also adds much more detail about every Visitor IP address, not just the country but also region, city, post code, ISP, owner, latitude and longitude information.
